Apollo 8

T’was the night before Christmas, and all through space, not even a comet stirred in its celestial grace. But then, what was that? A rocket did blaze - t’was Apollo 8, with its crew so brave.

T’was the night before Christmas, and all through space, not even a comet stirred in its celestial grace. But then, what was that? A rocket did blaze - t’was Apollo 8, with its crew so brave.

That fateful night, 1968, humans achieved a feat so great. Borman, Lovell, Anders, in space did soar, around the moon, where no one had flown before.

Above the moon's face, gazing down on the Earth, the astronauts broadcast a biblical verse. T’was the second crewed flight for NASA’s ‘Apollo’, paving the way for the 11 to follow.

As they circled the moon, the boys snapped our home: a vision of Earth, a gleaming blue dome. This "Earthrise" moment, captured for all; a reminder of our planet, fragile and small.
