In 1445, an Olney woman was reportedly so late for church she sprinted there still holding her frying pan. That accidental sprint became a Shrove Tuesday race that's still going today. Since 1950, Olney has raced Liberal, Kansas across the Atlantic. Westminster School goes further with the Pancake Greaze: a cook hurls a giant pancake and pupils fight for the biggest bit.

This week's new Limited Legendary doesn't do "one home." The Japanese Badger rotates between 13.5 underground setts a year, according to a radio-tracking study in Yamaguchi. Male cubs can freeload off Mum's sett for up to 26 months before building their own portfolio (much to Mum's relief). The Japanese name, anaguma, means "hole bear," which feels a bit rude for a mustelid.
If at first you don’t succeed…
Keep trying. 11 times, at least. That’s the story of José M. Hernández, who applied to NASA every year for over a decade and got rejected eleven times. He reapplied the twelfth. In 2004, they finally said yes. He went on to fly aboard STS-128 in 2009 and log nearly 14 days in orbit. Persistence: it works, eventually.
