Some Like it (Very) Hot

Things are looking extreme in this week’s Quarter Pounder at 17:00 UTC so get ready for extreme heat, volcanoes, war, and then quite a lot of death. This week’s 4 new cards are taking the Hostile Environments theme incredibly literally so let’s see what you should be on the lookout for:

  • Battle of Hastings (1066) - one of the most famous battles in British history, when drawn, this card locks and all of your Battle! cards lose -50 Power for the round, but when played, all of your Battle! cards gain +20 Power permanently.
  • Hagedorn Temperature - hotter than the surface of the Sun, when played this card makes 3 of your opponent’s cards in hand lose -5 Power permanently.
  • Tharsis Montes - this region of some of the biggest volcanoes on Mars will lock when drawn but then, when played, gives your Planetside cards in hand +30 Power this turn, and finally, on return, it gives all of your Planetside cards +3 Power permanently
  • Quaternary Extinction Event - since we humans may have hunted a lot of ancient creatures off, this card loses -10 Power for every album in your deck permanently but starts with a very decent 6/100 statline. Think of the poor mammoths.

If you’re looking for something a little less deadly, you can nab the Whale of a Time pack from 15:00 UTC with a Limited Rare or higher card from Oceans and Seas and a Rare or Higher card from Oceans and Seas (which also has a chance to be Limited!)

Later tonight, from Midnight UTC, the Lava Cricket will be making an appearance in the Bugs pack. Believe it or not, these wingless crickets make their happy little homes on lava flows and beat it if anything starts growing there. When drawn, this card gives your Bugs cards +10 Power until played but this card Burns (10) for 3 turns. We did say that they like it hot.
