Sword in the Balance Patch

Hey folks!

In a smaller offering than usual, we’re changing a total of four cards today - two buffs, and two nerfs. The reasoning behind two of these will be apparent to a lot of players, and we hope it goes a long way to improving your enjoyment of CUE. As ever, we appreciate your feedback in shaping the future of the game!

Without further ado…

Buffs

Neo-Futurism

New Ability

:draw: If your deck has exactly 9 Arts & Culture cards and 7 or more Futurology cards, your cards, wherever they are, gain +20:power: until played.

Change:

We’ve lowered the Futurology card requirement from exactly 9 to 7 or more. While the classic 9/9 split deck is still a fun and flavorful option, freeing up those 2 slots should leave some breathing room for more generic Science buffers.

Uther Pendragon

New Ability

:play: If your deck has 9 or more Arthurian Legends cards, your non-Arthurian Legends cards, wherever they are, gain +16:power: until played.

:return: Your King Arthur and Stonehenge cards, wherever they are, gain +28:power: until played and your Stonehenge card, wherever it is, costs -3:energy: permanently.

Change:

Uther just got a brand-new on-play ability! This adds a lot more flexibility to the beloved collection and opens up fresh options when building decks. We’re especially excited about this one - looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Nerfs

Tennin

New Ability

:play: If your deck has exactly 5 Albums, your cards, wherever they are, gain +10 :power: until played. If it has exactly 5 collections, your cards, wherever they are, gain an additional +16 :power: until played.

:return: If your deck has 10 or more cards from one Album, your cards, wherever they are, lose -26 :power: until played.

Change:

Tennin has been a dominant force in the meta lately, so we’re making a few more tweaks to keep it in check - while still preserving the unique playstyle it brings. The ability has been flipped, so a higher reward is granted for a more granular deckbuild of 5 collections, as opposed to the broader 5 Album previously - hopefully making this less of an essential slot-in for every Rainbow deck.

Python

New Ability

:play: Up to 12 of your random non-Science cards, wherever they are, gain +16 :power: until played. For every Programming Languages card in your deck, give them an additional +2 :power: for 3 turns.

Change:

We’re dialing back how broadly Python spreads its buffs, but at the same time, we want its synergy with Programming Languages to feel more impactful. So, we’re limiting the initial buff to up to 12 non-Science cards in your deck. To compensate, we’re pushing an additional turn for fulfilling the Programming Language requirement for the second part of the ability, in order to bring the card back home in its collection specific deck a little more.

Again, a massive thank you for all your feedback on card balance - it’s incredibly valuable. These changes should be in-game now, and we’re always keen to hear what you think, so keep the feedback coming!
