The Bermuda Sort-Of-Triangle would be a more accurate (if less catchy) name, as its boundaries are fuzzy and there is no consensus on them.
The name was first used in 1964, although the region had a reputation for unexplained disappearances dating back to the 19th century. Spooky stuff eh?
Combine that with the fact that the region has heavy traffic (by sea and air), and is subject to frequent tropical storms and hurricanes… well, it’s enough to make you rethink your travel plans.
Sadly for conspiracy theorists though, a 2013 study by the World Wildlife Fund found that The Bermuda Triangle wasn’t even in the top 10 most dangerous bodies of water for shipping. Nothing to see here, move along…
