The Jobsworth Octopus

Dan

Hello; lots to get through today!

We've released a new Nebulae Basic Coins Pack, containing the new Medusa Nebula card. Say, it's convenient that we've put that pack out in a week with a massive Nebulae bonus in the League, isn't it?

Got some limited rare and epic things on sale, stranger! Today's Black Friday deal, the Purple Tuesday Bundle, gives you Limited Rare and Epic cards from Space as well as Gems and Coins.

It's also Pick 'N' Mix day! Most of you know what the deal is here, but it bears repeating for our newer players every once in a while - this pack gets you 8 cards, one of eight different rarities, for a very reasonable 250 Gems. It's very popular, it's a great way to get a diverse collection, and it's out every Tuesday!

Finally, I want to go into a bit more detail about the Day Octopus, a creature joining our Cephalopods collection today in the new 50/50 Pack, because it has two amazing features.

Firstly, it can change the colour and texture of its skin for camouflage purposes. You might think that's not that amazing because all octopi do that, but one researcher observed a specimen changing colour more that 1,000 times in seven hours! It's unclear what caused it to make that many changes so rapidly - perhaps it was just in a tank in front of a TV and was trying to keep up with four back-to-back screenings of A Scanner Darkly?

Secondly, it only hunts and eats during the day. That's not an amazing feature, per se, but an inflexible habit is a heck of a thing to base your identity around. Like, c'mon man, you can probably hunt at night, you just won't. What if you've got nothing in and you want a midnight snack? They don't have Deliveroo underwater.

You could say that its third great feature is that it gives itself +65 Power if your deck has a sizeable amount of Oceans and Seas cards, but it doesn't do that in the wild, and certainly doesn't do that in the wild in the evenings.
