Bit off more than you could chew?
This week's new Limited Rare, Xiphactinus, was a five-metre Cretaceous predator who never learned about portion control. One fossil contains a six-foot fish still sitting undigested inside its ribcage. Scientists think the meal actually killed it. Even worse for its ego, Xiphactinus wasn’t always top of the food chain. Fossils show that giant sharks ate them too (unlike Xiphactinus, they probably chewed).
Fun Fact of the Week
In 1952, a Route 78 driver called Albert Gunter felt Tower Bridge rising beneath his Double-Decker Bus, and did the only reasonable thing: floored it. Everyone on board survived the jump. His reward for pulling off what sounds like a rejected Bond stunt was £10.
