It’s the final week of Spookyfest, and the Horrible Halloween League boost hits its peak: +200 Power. If you were ever going to build a monstrous deck, now’s the time!
Elsewhere, children are donning costumes and mice are making poor choices.
Enter if you dare…
This week’s summonings:
The last temptations
The final Deadly Sins slink into the shop. Each brings a FREE pack with a themed Avatar and Card Back, plus a 3,500 Coin pack containing 7 random Basics and a chance of the brand-new sin card.
Twice the terror
The Community Challenge rewards have been DOUBLED for the final stretch. Every Horrible Halloween card you play gets us closer, so stuff your decks with spooky stuff and check the in-game banner to watch the tally climb.
Knock, knock
Any other night, turning up at a stranger’s door in costume and demanding sweets would be deeply odd. On Halloween, it’s just tradition. Trick-or-Treat owes its costumes to Scottish guisers, who had to earn their apples and nuts with a song or a joke. The threat is American: by 1894, pranksters in Washington, DC were flour-bombing streetcar passengers. Sweets became the ceasefire.
Fatal attraction
If you’re a mouse, your top priority is avoiding the enormous whiskered predator called Mr Snuffles. Catch Toxoplasma gondii, though, and things get complicated. This parasite can only breed inside a cat, and in lab studies, infected rodents lose their fear of cat smell, with some even seeming drawn to it. Humans catch it too, but there’s no good evidence it steers us. We just like cats.
Coming your way this week…
Celebrate the big night with Horrible Halloween, get under the skin of the Brilliant Human Body, and square up to the Feisty Fish. Perform the Rites and Rituals, wander into Japanese Folklore, and hop along with the Amphibians. Ribbit.
