This Week in CUE 17 July

Duncan

The big news this week is the community-led CUE Games Week on Discord!

Expect left-field quizzes, surreal takes on old favourites, and prizes galore - all on a CUE theme. (More info below but keep your eyes peeled as these details are subject to change.) Huge thanks to the geniuses/genii who organise these, not just this week but throughout the year.

We doff our caps in your direction. Meanwhile, this week sees the release of HMS Beagle, the ship that took Darwin to the Galapagos Islands. The Beagle had a rather interesting menu, serving up armadillos, tortoises, iguanas and even a puma. (Puma apparently tasted ‘like veal’, which is odd. We’d expect it to taste like a cat.)

The regal-looking Charlemagne joins Mad Monarchs. As the founding father of Europe, I’m not sure why he’s in Mad Monarchs, but I’m sure the card will explain all... Maybe it’s the reckless beard or a fondness for straight bananas and red tape. (That joke goes out to those who endured the Brexit campaigns of 2016.)

The last tease is for Toxodon, whose closest living relatives include horses, rhinos and tapirs. The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed a dramatic improvement in image quality for some of our prehistoric animals - so expect some more beast-treats over the coming weeks.
