Yo mamma is so nurturing, she’s got the ancient Basque people mistaking her for Amalur, the goddess of the Earth.
As far as mothers go, Amalur was pretty important: she made Ekhi, the sun, and Ilazki, the moon. Being pregnant with the sun can’t be easy, let alone giving birth to it. Then again, Amalur is also believed to not only be the goddess of the earth, but the earth itself. But still, it’s no mean feat.
This deity is also responsible for creating the stemless carline thistle - and while that may not seem as important as the Sun and the Moon, the Basques believed that this flower could frighten malicious spirits away if hung up on their doors.
