Gee's Golden Langur

What wisdom can ye dispense to us troubled humans, oh ancient wise monkey? Hello? Monkey? Nope, despite looking like it may know the solution to all of our earthly problems, Gee’s Golden Langur isn’t going to give you anything.

What wisdom can ye dispense to us troubled humans, oh ancient wise monkey? Hello? Monkey? Nope, despite looking like it may know the solution to all of our earthly problems, Gee’s Golden Langur isn’t going to give you anything. In fact, researchers have found that this Old World monkey deliberately works hard to avoid human interaction, making them very difficult to observe in the wild.

Here’s what we do know: Gee’s Golden Langur was officially discovered in 1953 by a tea planter and naturalist Edward Pritchard Gee. They are thought to live in troops of around 8, with a ratio of several females to each adult male. Sadly, it is one of the most endangered species of India and Bhutan, with populations declining by 30% in the last 30 years.
