Someone get a hose, quick! That tree is on fire! Oh - wait- no, that’s just the lllawarra Flame Tree doing its thing.
Someone get a hose, quick! That tree is on fire! Oh - wait- no, that’s just the lllawarra Flame Tree doing its thing. Just like a phoenix, the Illawarra Flame Tree goes through a dramatic change, dropping its leaves before bursting forth with a dazzling display of scarlet flowers, a spectacular rebirth that sets the landscape ablaze. While touching it won’t burn you, the boat-shaped seed pods that the lllawarra Flame Tree produces can be irritating to the skin.
Native to subtropical regions of eastern Australia, this tree can grow up to 30-40 metres tall when it's thriving in its own habitat. It’s also quite resilient and able to survive droughts, although it’s certainly not gonna pass up on regular watering.
