Dog people, feel free to tune out of this one. Cat people, pack your bags and prepare for the holiday of a lifetime! Today, we’re jet-setting to Aoshima, also known as Cat Island. Situated just off the coast of Ehime in Japan, this paw-some place is home to over 120 free-roaming felines.
It all started back when cats were used on boats to combat rodents, but increasingly, the creatures remained on the island and began reproducing in large numbers. Today, feline residents far outnumber the human population of the island - we’re talking a cat to human ratio of 36:1. If you think you can handle 36 cats at the same time, you’re in for a treat. Just remember to pack 36 litter trays.
