Blue Mint Beetle

Not to be confused with the DC superhero, the Blue Mint Beetle isn’t an alien relic but rather a species belonging to the family Chrysomelidae.

Not to be confused with the DC superhero, the Blue Mint Beetle isn’t an alien relic but rather a species belonging to the family Chrysomelidae. So named for its metallic blue hue and penchant for mint leaves, the Blue Mint Beetle was originally described by German theologian and entomologist, Ludwig Gottlieb Scriba in 1791. The beetle then fused with Scriba’s body, granting him a powerful exoskeleton armour and turning him into a supe- no, hang on. That’s the other one.

This blue beetle just kept to itself, living alongside rivers and meadows across Europe. They range in size from 1 mm to 18 mm and live for a year or so, chomping on leaves but never doing enough damage to be considered a threat.
