Is your dog behaving badly? Just be thankful it isn’t Cerberus, the monstrous hound of Hades and watchdog of the underworld in Greek Mythology. Even the best dog whisperer couldn’t tame this beast: with three heads and a set of snakes growing from its back, Cerberus wasn’t your average pup.

If you thought the sniffer dogs at the airport were efficient, Cerberus took the Dogs With Jobs game up a whole other level, preventing the dead from leaving the underworld (a pretty important job if you ask us.) Only on three occasions was Cerberus tricked by visitors of Hades: Heracles overpowered him with strength, Orpheus distracted him with music and the Sybil of Cumae used a honey-cake.
